Celebrate This Year’s National Margarita Day

Feb. 22 is National Margarita Day – a full day to celebrate the sixth most popular cocktail in the world. It’s a cocktail that conjures up images of sunny, tropical vacations, which is something we could all use a little of right now!

And this is where Mr. Margarita comes in! One of Canada’s top bartenders, Michael Fortier, AKA Mr. Margarita, is giving us three margarita recipes guaranteed to warm our cockles, and take us on a tropical journey this weekend – if only in our minds and via our palates.

Michael Fortier, also known as Mr. Margarita

Mr. Margarita is renowned for his margaritas for three main reasons: they’re not artificial slushies (yuck) he handcrafts each one with the freshest ingredients, and he uses the world’s most awarded tequila, Herradura.

Mr. Margarita’s three recipes for National Margarita Day are of particular importance because he made them with Herradura Silver, which is just hitting Canadian liquor stores this weekend. Unlike other silver tequilas which go unaged, Herradura Silver ages theirs in white oak barrels for a full 45 days, which gives it notes of agave, vanilla and wood – the perfect complement to any margarita.

So grab your drinking glasses and salt those rims as here are three recipes to help you celebrate the sixth most ordered cocktail in the world.
