New whisky Forty Creek Victory tributes 1812 battle

Forty Creek Whisky distillery this month introduces its latest blend, Forty Creek Victory, a limited edition release, commemorating a battle from the War of 1812, the Engagement at the Forty.

“Although it wasn’t a major battle in the War of 1812, the Engagement at the Forty was critical in preventing the further advancement of American troops and helping secure victory for what would eventually become known as Canada,” said George Skarpathiotakis, Senior Brand Manager, North American Whiskies for Campari Canada. “The event is part of our history in Grimsby (Ontario), the place our distillery calls home.”

For this limited release, Forty Creek Master Blender Bill Ashburn selected the best whisky from the barrel room to further age with the addition of vanilla wood staves. Featuring aromas of rich oak and honey, Victory is a full-flavoured whisky exhibiting bold flavours of toffee and baking spices, flares of vanilla, and a well-rounded, full finish.

Victory will officially launch at Whisky Weekend 2019 on September 21 and 22, hosted at the Forty Creek Distillery in Grimsby. An annual celebration of all things Forty Creek, Whisky Weekend offers fans an all-access weekend of tours, tastings, music, food and expert-led seminars, along with the opportunity to be among the first to pick up the year’s limited release before its launch at liquor retailers.

This year’s iteration of Whisky Weekend will also feature re-enactors who will be joining attendees to meet and interact with fans, while explaining the battle of Engagement at the Forty.
