The Best Wine to Toast this Father’s Day

With Father’s Day around the corner (June 21), we have always looked forward to creating great memories, enjoying good food and most of all sharing great wine.

Even though this year is different, we have found the perfect bottle of wine to toast at home, and one whose very name celebrates family – Hope Family Wines. The 2018 Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon stands apart as setting the standard for luxury Cabernet in Paso Robles, one of the top winegrowing regions for quality red wine in the world.

The newly released Cabernet (which retails at $69.95 at the LCBO) is 100% certified sustainably grown

Austin Hope and his family have been pioneers in Paso Robles, a historic ranching community located 250 miles south of Napa Valley in California. Farming for more than 30 years, they have established deep roots and a commitment to creating wines known for high quality, consistency and value.

Coined as the next big wine region to come out of California, the 2017 Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon was named Wine Enthusiast’s 10th best wine in the world. The 2018 world-class Cabernet is just as outstanding and a truly special gift this Father’s Day – the perfect wine to uncork to pay tribute to family, connection and celebrating all Father figures.

About the wine:

The newly released Cabernet (which retails at $69.95 at the LCBO) is 100% certified sustainably grown and expresses all that Paso has to offer – a connection to the land and its people. It is deep ruby in color and expresses aromas of fresh black currants and cherries accompanied by subtle smoky notes and dried spices. On the palate, this lavish powerful wine is layered with juicy blackberry, ripe cherry, vanilla bean and brown butter. It’s full-bodied and rich, balanced by a touch of bright acidity and firm polished tannins.

The perfect pairing:

Fire up the grill and pair this Cabernet with a coffee rubbed steak or burger. In a small bowl mix ground coffee beans, cumin, salt, pepper, paprika and crushed pepper flakes. Coat steak or burger with the rub and then drizzle olive oil to lightly cover the meat. Grill over a hot fire to get a nice sear on both sides and enjoy!
