The need to escape escalates as winter continues to drag on, and tropical destinations tend to be at the top of the wish list. With WestJet flying directly to Grand Cayman you can arrive in this Caribbean paradise without the hassle of transfers, thus maximizing holiday time. Whether going solo, with some buddies, or on a romantic getaway, this island offers an unforgettable escape.
Stay
Seven Mile Beach is where you’ll want to rest, and the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is by far the best accommodation on the island with amenities so vast you almost needn’t venture from the resort. It’s a splurge but you get a nine-hole golf course, outdoor pools and Jacuzzis, floating aqua lounges, sailing lessons, a tennis centre, and an onsite La Prairie Spa. There are also five separate dining spots to feast at including Blue by Eric Ripert should hunger strike day or night.
Swim
If you do choose to leave the resort, which of course you should, the must-do on this travel adventure is Stingray City Sandbar, where you can splash and swim with stingrays. It’s a half day trip on a catamaran with the opportunity to jump out into the shallow waters and mingle with these friendly sea creatures, as well as a chance to check out your shipmates in their swimwear.
Explore
Within walking distance of the hotel lies Camana Bay, more than just a shopping center. Here there are high-end restaurants and stores such as the The Caribbean Canvas Company where you can stock up on Island-worthy outfits. Then head over to the West Indies Wine Company, a wine bar for some sips and a wine store should you need something for back at the hotel.
Not an ordinary dust-filled museum, the Cayman Motor Museum is a must. Here you can get up close to over eighty exotic and classic motorcars and motorbikes. Classic Ferraris, Roadsters, Rolls-Royces, Morgans, and the Batmobile are just part of this insanely vast collection of metal and rubber. Be forewarned: you may be inspired to upgrade when you return home.
