In the 1970s, the FBI launched a sting operation against corrupt public officials in a operation called Abscam. With some forced help from a con-artist, they eventually nailed a handful of congressmen and other officials for bribery and corruption.
Abscam has been ripe for the Hollywood treatment for some time now, and David O. Russell is the man helming the project. He’s recruited an all-star cast too: Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, and Louis CK will don their best seventies getups and chase those sweet greenbacks.
