It takes a Kickstarter to fund a documentary; at least, we’re banking on that as an aphorism they’ll toss around in the future. After a major crowd funding effort back in 2009—yes, Kickstarter has been around that long—a documentary about Calvin and Hobbes called Dear Mr Watterson is ready to hit theatres (and iTunes) on November 19.
Of course Watterson shuns the spotlight and has become something of a Generation X JD Salinger, so he isn’t actually interviewed in this film. That said, they made an effort to talk to every other cartoonist in the field, so there’s that.
