Billionaire Elon Musk and actress Amber Heard have reportedly parted ways after one year of dating. The Hollywood star, 31, was previously married to Pirates of The Caribbean actor Johnny Depp before dating the Tesla CEO, 46.
A source told Us Weekly: “The timing wasn’t good for them. He’s super busy and works all the time. Amber is filming [Aquaman] in Australia until October. She’s in no position to settle with him. She feels her career is just starting.”
Musk was initially drawn to Heard due to her “edginess” and because she was a great listener.
The SpaceX founder has been married and divorced three times—twice to the same woman. He married Justine Wilson in 2000, and they had five sons together before splitting in 2008. He wed British actress Talulah Riley in 2010. They divorced in 2012 and remarried in 2013. They divorced again in 2016.
According to Forbes, Musk is currently worth an estimated $16.6 billion and is the 80th richest person in the world. He was born in South Africa, moved to Canada as a teenager, and went to college at the University of Pennsylvania. He co-founded PayPal and aims to establish a colony on Mars. He is a big advocate of sustainable energy, and his latest project is building a hyperloop between New York City and Washington, DC.
Heard finalized her divorce from Depp in January 2017. The pair met in 2011 on the set of The Rum Diary. They had a contentious divorce with Heard claiming that Depp was verbally and physically abusive during their marriage. Depp’s team of lawyers accused her of being a gold digger, but after receiving a $7 million divorce settlement Heard vowed to donate the money to the American Civil Liberties Union and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The bisexual actress dated photographer Taysa van Ree for four years before starting a relationship with Depp.
