Urban planners in sprawling Calgary, overpriced Vancouver, crumbling Montreal and gong-show Toronto should take note of these terrible ideas once proposed for New York and take solace in the fact that things could be hilariously worse. Or spend several millions of dollars studying them, since this is Canada.
Although giant Star Wars-esque city walkers couldn’t be any worse than our current public transit systems.
We’d take autogiros over subways any day, although the looming threat of nuclear annihilation kind of sucks the fun out of lounging under a giant helicopter landing pad/bomb shelter.
We’re just happy the Cold War is over. Basement apartments are bad enough.
