Okay, here’s the skinny: Shadow of Mordor is yet another Lord of the Rings game where you don’t get to play any of the cool characters from the trilogy. Instead, you’re an off-brand ranger. In somewhat cooler news, you get wraith abilities and are all about revenge. In less cool news, the story is supposed to ‘bridge’ the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, but we already know how Lord of the Rings turns out, so you can’t possibly have your revenge on Sauron.
Basically, Lord of the Rings nerds will hate it, much as they hate all things, but it might be cool. The game drops September 30, and really, what else do you have going on?
