A Hard Day’s Night might be one of the strangest cinematic beasts out there. A lot of people who are familiar with the name but haven’t seen it assume it’s a documentary—but it isn’t. Rather, the Beatles play themselves at the height of Beatlemania, simultaneously sculpting their public image and also mocking it. Anyway, they’ve redone all the technical aspects of the film (which is good, because the 1964 original was made on the cheap for under half a million) and it’ll hit theatres this July.
