All-You-Can-Eat Calgary

Whether you have a religious fast approaching or just want to know you got your money’s worth dining out, Calgary boasts numerous restaurants that offer limitless quantities of quality cuisine. When you’ve got to get a good eat on, try one of these massive mealtime suggestions.

Breakfast/Brunch — Buffet
Nick’s Steakhouse is well-known in Calgary for its pizza (and of course, its steak) but the  all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch buffet gives you a chance to enjoy unlimited steak, as well as eggs Benedict, omelettes and homemade desserts.

Hotel Arts’ Raw Bar executive chef Duncan Ly has created an elegant and reasonably priced breakfast menu, but if you can’t decide on a specific item, there’s a daily buffet ($16) decked out with eggs, pancakes, bacon, assorted fruits, and various cheeses.

Lunch — Dim Sum
Compared to most large urban centres in Canada, Calgary is a bit lacking in the dim sum department. Central Grand Restaurant (1623 Centre St. N.) ably fills the void, pushing carts filled with Chinese delicacies before you — BBQ pork buns, egg tarts, curry short ribs and squid, just to name a few. Each item ranges from $3 to $6, and it’s tough to eat more than $20 worth.

Dinner — Rodizio
Over the past couple of years, Calgary has been fortunate enough to welcome the Brazilian tradition of Rodizio dining. Bolero, part of the Smuggler’s group of restaurants, has been open since 2007 and offers the Full Rodizio ($50), where each table is given a cue. If the cue is flipped to the green side, that signals the chefs to start bringing the Brazilian-style cuts of meat — filet mignon, sausage, and sirloin — and pile it on your plate until you need to tap out to deliciousness or simply take a break.

Gaucho’s chef/owner Edmilson Rodrigues trained in Brazil and worked at restaurants in Japan and China before opening his touted Brazilian BBQ house in Calgary in 2007. In addtion addition to the full Rodizio, Gaucho offers the Sheriff’s Sampler ($17) lunch special, which features seven of the restaurant’s most popular cuts of meat and a selection of sides and salads.
