Mixologist: Chinese New Year Cocktails

We love whisky, and we love cocktails, so naturally, here they are together. Protip: if you’re using a premium spirit like scotch, don’t skimp on the rest of the ingredients. Fresh juice is so much better than the alternatives.

The Macallan Firecracker

 

Ingredients
1.5 oz. The Macallan Gold
3 tangerine wedges (or 0.25oz fresh tangerine juice)
2 dash rhubarb bitters
2 oz. ginger beer to top

Directions
Muddle tangerine wedges with bitters. Add The Macallan Gold and fill with ginger beer. Shake and double strain into a martini glass.
Garnish with a tangerine zest twist

The Red Lantern

 

Ingredients
1.5 oz. The Macallan Amber
0.5 oz. Lavender Honey Syrup*
2 oz. Pomegranate Juice Green Tea Ice Cubes**

Directions
Shake The Macallan Amber, lavender honey syrup and pomegranate juice with ice. Strain into a rocks or old fashioned glass filled with green tea ice cubes.
Garnish with a lavender sprig

*To make the lavender honey syrup, in a pot combine 500mL water with 500g of lavender honey over low heat. Stir till the honey is dissolved and remove from
heat. Once cooled, strain into a container.

**To make the green tea ice cubes, brew green tea, let cool and pour into ice cube tray. Freeze and use as needed.
