Pit Barrel Cooker

We aren’t handy enough to make our own steel barrel barbecue, we aren’t foolish enough to use a repurposed one, and we wouldn’t be able to suss out a new one anyway. So, that’s why we’re big fans of this pit barrel cooker ($269), which is more than a steel barrel anyhow. It comes with eight hooks, two hanging rods, a charcoal basket, a grill grate, a wooden hook remover, and a horseshoe barrel stand, with a couple of rubs thrown in for good measure. You can use it as a grill, or you can smoke things low ‘n slow. But suspended.
