Outdoor tennis courts are ubiquitous in Montreal, but if you want to step up your game before summer rolls around, you’ve got to head inside. Here, the best indoor courts in town.
Stade Uniprix
Located in Jarry Park, the one-time home of the Expos has become the epicentre of Montreal’s tennis scene, with 22 courts (10 outdoor; 12 indoor) open to the public – no membership required. Approx. $25/hour (less with with Access Montreal Card)
Sanctuaire
Though it may look more like a boutique hotel or swanky tapas resto, Sanctuaire is really a state-of-the-art sports facility, boasting three outdoor clay courts and six top-notch indoor courts. $250/month
Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard
This sprawling complex in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville boasts soccer pitches and an Olympic-sized pool, but the real jewel is its tennis program. Boasting 12 courts and leagues and tournaments for players of all skill levels, this is by far the best deal for indoor tennis in town. From $8/hour with Access Montreal card
Tennis 13
Though 13’s the title, this joint’s got 15 indoor courts, which are open from 6 a.m. – 12 a.m. through the week, so you can serve it up (almost) till the break of dawn. $47/month membership and $26/hour court fees
Club Atwater
What the historic Club Atwater (Est. 1926) lacks in tennis courts – there’s only one in operation for part of the week – it offers in squash, badminton and old Westmounters sampling from the 5000-bottle wine cellar. Membership: If you have to ask…
