Corby’s Canadian Whiskies Win Big At World Whiskies Awards

After being nationally recognized earlier this year at the Canadian Whisky Awards, Corby Spirit and Wine Limited’s J.P. Wiser’s, Lot No. 40, and Pike Creek recently won four awards at the World Whiskies Awards in London.

“These awards are a true reflection of the passion we hold to innovate and push the boundaries on what’s possible, resulting in quality whisky, and we are honoured to share it with the world,” commented Vanessa Clarke, senior brand manager, Corby Spirit and Wine Limited.

The event recognizes the very best in whiskies around the world. This year’s competition was held in Britain, and a panel of international experts took part in three rounds of blind judging.

J.P. Wiser’s 35 Year Old was awarded World’s Best Canadian Blended. The traditional rye whisky is one of the oldest ever produced and has been aged in distiller Hiram Walker’s warehouse for over 35 years.

Pike Creek was awarded World’s Best Corn Whisky – Best Canadian Corn. The 21-year-old whisky is aged in French and Hungarian oak casks, producing a smooth finish with “faint hints of dried fruits, honey, and nutmeg drawn from European oak casks.”

The 11-year-old Lot 40 with “spicy rye notes” was named World’s Best Rye Whisky – Best Canadian Rye.

J.P. Wiser’s Vanilla with notes of toffee, vanilla, nutmeg and allspice was named World’s Best Flavoured Whisky – Best Canadian Flavoured.

Following the competition, Corby posted on Instagram, “Today, we’re raising our glass to gold medals. We’re so proud of our team for winning multiple awards at the #WorldWhiskiesAwards. Cheers to all the hard work of our fantastic team, and to great Canadian whisky!”

Hiram Walker & Sons distillery in Windsor, Ontario, produces all of Corby’s Canadian whisky brands, which are 100 percent Canadian made. The company was recently named Distiller of the Year at the Canadian Whisky Awards.

Corby and Hiram Walker & Sons are very proud of their products and were thrilled to receive international acclaim. According to master blender Don Livermore, “There’s no better feeling in the world than to have our work recognized with such high regard.”
