Record Store Day’s Exclusive Releases For 2019

Even if you’ve never heard of it, Record Store Day is celebrated on every continent except Antarctica. It brings attention to the world’s independently owned record stores and involves special vinyl and CD releases.

This year’s event takes place on Saturday, April 13. The Trews are the official Canadian Ambassadors for Record Store Day Canada 2019.

The Record Store Day website boasts a list of titles that are only being released at record stores (sorry, Amazon users). It’s a great opportunity to collect rare and interesting records from your favorite artists.

Canadian-specific releases include the following:

  • Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor team up with Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins on “Holy Man”
  • Bob Dylan’s original New York test pressing of Blood on the Tracks (limited to 7,500 copies)
  • Green Day’s vinyl recording of their 1994 Woodstock performance (limited to 6,800 copies)
  • Mastodon covers Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” on 10-inch vinyl in honor of late manager Nick John (limited to 1,500 copies)
  • Weezer’s rarities collection Dusty Gems and Raw Nuggets on limited-edition vinyl
  • Elvis Costello & Imposters’ new EP Purse with songs written with Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Burt Bacharach (limited to 3,000 copies)
  • Seven unreleased Jeff Buckley studio performances in In Transition (limited to 3,000 copies)
  • The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather and Jack White solo 3-inch vinyl records (limited to 2,000 copies each)
  • Unreleased Joe Strummer recordings from 1993 on the 12-inch vinyl The Rockfield Studio Tracks
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers members Chad Smith & Josh Klinghoffer cover two T. Rex songs “Jeepster” and “Monolith” on 7-inch vinyl (limited to 3,000 copies)
  • Goblin rarity “Yell” on red vinyl (limited to 500 copies)
  • Greta Van Fleet’s From the Fires will be released on vinyl for the first time
  • Sigur Ros two exclusive vinyl releases, 22° Lunar Halo and Variations On Darkness (both limited to 2,000 copies)
