Shaquille O’Neal Brings His ‘Sexy’ Style To JCPenney

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is a savvy businessman, and his latest venture is a big & tall clothing line with JCPenney called Shaquille O’Neal XLG. The collection will be available online and in 350 stores with items listed at fairly reasonable prices.

At over 7 feet tall, O’Neal understands the difficulty larger men have in finding the right fit. “Every big guy should have the opportunity to bring the sexy like I do, and I can’t wait to help men just like me look their best with a men’s clothing collection that not only fits their frames but fits their wallets, too,” he said in a statement.

The clothing line will include dozens of men’s suited separates, dress shirts, ties and belts in various sizes, including sports coats up to size 64, extra-long ties, and belts up to 4XL. The items will also be affordable, with suits on sale for $199 and dress shirts for $32. All of the clothing will be under $300.

The aim is for the collection to be classic, effortless, and comfortable.

O’Neal, who enjoys dressing up and considers Barack Obama a style icon, told People he was enthusiastic about the partnership and was also involved in the design process.

What’s his outfit of choice? “I like to be ready in a suit that has nice, simple colours but a little flair whether it is with a cool fabric or pattern,” he explained.

O’Neal’s goal is for consumers to be confident and comfortable when wearing his brand. “I’ve tried on clothes that sometimes aren’t wide enough or long enough,” O’Neal noted. “This collection is unique because it’s affordable and has the styles the ‘little guys’ wear. Big and tall guys want to dress sexy too!”

When he’s not working or in a corporate environment, O’Neal prefers t-shirts and shorts. The collection will be available starting Sept. 13.

O’Neal is worth $350 million, much of which is due to his investments and business acumen. He owns more than 150 Five Guys franchises and 17 Auntie Anne’s pretzel stands. He invested in Google before it went public and recently invested in the tech startup Loyal3. He also created the real estate company The O’Neal Group.
