If we have a choice between grilling or smoking our ribs over wood, charcoal, or gas, we pick wood every time. For the record, charcoal comes second. The trouble with wood, though, is it’s difficult to maintain a consistent temperature.
Using pellets solves a lot of that problem, hence the Camp Chef Pellet Grill and Smoker ($802). Basically, it seeks to combine the deliciousness of wood smoke with the convenience of a gas grill. It also has a bunch of neat features, like temperature settings, built in sensors, a large-capacity pellet hopper, and auto-start ignition.
Don’t get us wrong, this isn’t something for the professional, but rather something for the weekend grill master. Don’t have the time and money for an industrial sized smoker? Well, now you can get in on the game.
