Measuring tape can be a pain in the ass (and fingers) when used alone, and we’ve certainly been off by a crucial eighth of an inch while trying to make a straight pencil mark with one hand. Here’s the solution: a roll of Measure It! ($30). Basically, it’s measuring tape that’s also adhesive tape, so you can stick it to your project, do what you need to do (drill a hole, paint a surface, make a mark—whatever), and then, since it’s about as tacky as painter’s tape, you can remove it with no residue.
