Good news: Seagate is launching a new 8TB hard drive very soon—and yes, it fits in an industry-standard 3.5” slot. No word on price yet, but their 6TB goes for three hundred bucks, so expect north of that. Still, it’s amazing how far we’ve come, given that you’d be dropping over a grand on a single terabyte ten years ago.
