Bathymetric Wood Charts

What’s a bathymetric chart? It’s the sailor’s equivalent of a topographic map; it measures the contours of the ocean floor, because that sort of information is pretty important to someone in charge of making sure that their boat doesn’t touch said ocean floor.

So why are these bathymetric charts made of wood? Well, and we think you’ll agree, because they look amazing. Below the Boat takes sheets of Baltic birch, laser cuts them, and creates a bathymetric chart with some physical depth. They then package the whole thing in a smart wood frame and a layer of plexiglass, because why buy a beautiful coastal chart if you aren’t going to display it?
