Why go solid? Well, solid colognes won’t spill, they’re compact, and they won’t be confiscated by the troglodytes at airport security. We’re pretty fond of Alfred Lane’s line of solid colognes ($16 each). Bravado is woodsy, with hints of tobacco and leather. Vanguard is more subtle and herbal. Finally, Brio mixes sweet and musky.
