If you own a Bugatti, there’s no doubt that you can afford its maintenance. The base price of a Veyron is $1.5 million, so dropping US$21,000 on an oil change is not a challenge for its owner.
The guys at Royalty Exotic Cars, which rents out luxury supercars, decided to change the oil in a Mansory Bugatti Veyron because they thought it would be a “fun” project. They filmed the process, and the video has received more than 1 million views on YouTube.
The video reveals the complexity of changing the oil and why it costs so much to do so. The Veyron has a dry-sump oiling system. Sections of the underbody have to be removed in order to access 16 different drain plugs (an average car has just one). The rear fender liner and rear deck, which are tacked on with numerous bolts, must also be removed to check the air filter and refill the oil.
“People that can afford these cars are not changing a tire, much less popping the hood,” commented YouTube user Roger Wilco. “They want to make it as much of a pain as possible so that normal dealers will refuse to touch it.. and that’s how they get away with charging $20k for an oil change.?”
Another user joked, “Isn’t the reason that the oil change is $21,000 because they fly two Bugatti technicians out from Germany and they inspect everything on the car and completely tear the engine down though??”
Either way, the price seems a bit high. It’s about 1.4 percent of the vehicle’s base price of $1.5 million. If a consumer bought a car for $20,000 and paid the same percentage for an oil change, that would equal around $280, noted CNET.

It takes about six weeks to build one compared to a standard car, which typically takes just one day. The 1,200-horsepower vehicle requires 10 radiators to keep it cool. Tires alone cost $40,000. In addition to its price, another downside is its gas mileage. It gets just eight miles per gallon in the city and 14 in the country.
