Bentley has improved upon its first SUV by making it faster than every other competitor on the market.
The Bentayga has a top-of-the-range 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged 12-cylinder engine. The new and improved Bentayga Speed version has 626 horsepower, which is slightly less than the V8-powered Lamborghini Urus with 641 hp. However, due to the Bentayga’s 664-pound-feet of torque, it is two-tenths of a second faster to 62 miles per hour and can reach the speed in just 3.9 seconds, reports motor1.com.
The Bentayga Speed has a top speed of 190, three points faster than the base model, making it the world’s fastest production SUV, according to the automaker.
The Bentayga Speed boasts an enhanced exhaust and changes to the Sport mode, which manages engine performance. It also features an eight-speed automatic transmission, 48-volt Dynamic Ride system, and a more solid suspension.
Cosmetic changes include 22-inch, 10-spoke wheels, and a smoked finish on the headlights, taillights, and grille. The interior features the new Alcantara trim and a “Speed” badge on the dashboard. The SUV has diamond-quilted seats, sports pedals and embroidered detailing. Buyers have the option of choosing from 15 standard hide colours and 17 standard paint colours. Those who prefer an even more personalization can pick from an extended range of 100 shades.
Bentley hasn’t released a price for the Bentayga Speed, but it’s expected to cost more than the standard W12 model, which has a base price of about US$230,000. It will be available for order in spring. Bentley is debuting the new SUV at the upcoming 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
The Bentayga Speed “offers an invigorating driving experience that both thrills and captivates,” the automaker notes on its website. “Yet this car is more than just about ability. Imposing and dynamic, Bentayga Speed enjoys a truly commanding road presence, making a powerful statement on every terrain.”
