Free Will in the Shining

Maybe you’ve heard of the awesome documentary Room 237. It’s all about the plethora of insane and amazing fan theories surrounding one of the most seminal horror films of all time, the Shining. Fans have suggested that Stanley Kubrick’s classic is about the Minotaur, the moon landing being faked, the genocide of American Indians, the Holocaust, and all kinds of other fun nonsense, along with some stuff that’s a bit more interesting and plausible.

From the second category comes this video essay by Drew Morton, all about the concept of free will and Jack’s “predetermined damnation”. Can’t say we agree with everything going on here, but we are planning on taking another look at the Shining this weekend.
