Netflix and Dreamworks in Original Content Deal

Netflix is set to start offering more content, thanks in part to a new deal with Dreamworks. The two will work on three hundred new hours of programming together.

Given the competition from online streaming services like Amazon and Hulu in the States, and given that TV networks are starting to see the value of online streaming and trying to develop their own competing services, original content seems like the next logical step for Netflix.

They’ve had some success in the original content game, with the amazing House of Cards remake and the less-than impressive fourth season of Arrested Development.

The next content is expected by 2014; a new season of Arrested Development is presumably on permanent hiatus.
