Sean Dunne, the director behind such beautifully constructed and well-shot documentaries like American Juggalo (best described as an interesting film about appalling people), is back with Oxyana.
Currently playing at Tribeca, Oxyana follows the epidemic of OxyContin in rural Appalachia. Epidemic is exactly the correct word: after over-prescribing led to addiction, scores are dying. In fact, painkiller addiction and everything that goes with that has become a serious problem in Canada, too, from pharmacists turned dealers to thefts from hospitals.
