Mixologist: Cedar Tequila Cocktails

So, now that you’ve infused a batch of cedar tequila, it’s time to cocktail. It can be substituted in most standard tequila or white rum cocktails, but avoid powerful flavours (like tomato juice) that will mask the cedar.

Smokehouse Margarita

Ingredients
2.5 oz. cedar tequila
2.5 oz. fresh lime juice
0.5 oz. Cointreau
2 dashes orange bitters
2 dashes simple syrup
Lime wheels

Directions
Build the ingredients over a tall glass of ice, adding the sugar last and garnishing with a lime wheel.

Shady Paloma

Ingredients
2 oz. cedar tequila
4 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
2 oz. soda water
Lime wedge
Salt

Directions
Rime a highball glass with salt and fill with ice. Add cedar tequila, grapefruit juice, and then soda water. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Cedar Sazerac

Ingredients
2 oz. cedar tequila
3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
2 dashes Agave nectar
Spritz of absinthe
Orange peel

Directions
In a shaker, add ice, tequila, bitters, and agave nectar. Stir, don’t shake. Spritz the inside of a highball glass with the absinth, and strain the drink into the glass.
