Mixologist: Kyushu Cosmo

It’s World Sake Day this October 1—the date having to do with the fact that it’s the start of the sake brewing season—so why not celebrate with a cocktail courtesy of Michael Tremblay over at ki modern Japanese?

Ingredients

1 oz. Moonlight shochu
.5 oz. plum sake
1 oz. cranberry juice
.5 oz. lime juice
Li Hing Mui powder

Directions

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and build first four ingredients. Shake well, then strain into a martini glass rimmed with Li Hing Mui powder. You can substitute the Moonlight shochu for any premium shochu, but don’t try and substitute the Li Hing Mui powder—you won’t find that combination of sweet, salty, and sour anywhere else.
