Toronto’s Top 10 Burgers, Part II

Last week, we brought you our take on five of Toronto’s top 10 burgers. Here, the odyssey concludes with five others. Behold the burger bounty.

The Stockyards
Screw the grill: The Stockyards griddles its 6-oz. patties, then toasts the fluffy bun on the griddle to soak up some juice. Top it with standard fixings, including Stockyards’ mayo, and for a buck more, bacon or caramelized onions. With fries, $9. 699 St. Clair Ave. W., 416-658-9666.

Dangerous Dan’s
Get extreme with the Quadruple C (“colossal colon-clogger combo”): a 24-oz. burger topped with a quarter pound of cheese, a quarter pound of bacon, and two fried eggs. Served with a large shake and small poutine. $23.95. 714 Queen St. E., 416-463-7310.

The Yellow Griffin Pub
Get spoiled for choice with toppings galore and patties made of beef, lamb, chicken breast, pork, turkey, bison, salmon or veggie. Craving a PB-and-fried-egg burger? The Griffin’s got you covered. With fries, $10.95 – $14.35. 2202 Bloor St., 416-763-3365.

Allen’s
There are many reasons to visit Allen’s: leafy patio. Great Scotch selection. Oh, and the burger: Made with local sirloin, grilled to perfection, and smothered with top-shelf cheeses, if this isn’t Toronto’s best burger, it’s damn close. $10.25, 143 Danforth Ave., 416-463-3086.

The Burger’s Priest
This tiny east-end eatery is converting burger skeptics into believers thanks to The Priest, a slight, super-juicy patty topped with a cheddar-stuffed, panko-breaded portobello mushroom. Add some caramelized onions or bacon ($1) and get ready to say hallelujah! $9.99. 1636 Queen St. E., 647-734-0617.
