The WHL might have to defend it’s reputation as the most rough and tumble hockey league in the CHL. Wednesday night saw a brawl between Baie-Comeau and Blainville-Boisbraind that cleared both benches.
The brawl appeared to start with a taunt between players at the end of the game, which evened the team’s seven game series at 2-2. Twelve players in total are suspended, coaches from both teams are banned for two games, and each team was slapped with a $5,000 fine. The QMJHL’s commissioner has also threatened a $25,000 fine for any future violence.
