Netflix and Piracy

Netflix isn’t a fan of piracy, in fact, one of its goals with its partners in Hollywood is to stamp out the practice, according to CNET. But does that mean one of the most popular legal sources of movies ignores media pirates? Not one bit.

Netflix actually monitors what content is most pirated to determine what’s popular and what they should introduce next. If a show is constantly being pirated and being watched by millions of people online, then it’s safe to say that it would work on Netflix.

But just having the same content doesn’t mean Netflix will automatically win. CEO Reed Hastings says ease of use will help win the day.

“Netflix is so much easier than torrenting. You don’t have to deal with files, you don’t have to download them and move them around. You just click and watch.”

Well Netflix, if you want to curb illegal downloads in Canada, spruce up that lineup of yours.
