The job site Glassdoor just released the top Canadian employers for 2018. Their list is based on anonymous employee reviews and factors such as benefits, company culture and work-life balance.
Reviews for the companies were submitted from Nov. 1, 2016, to Oct. 22, 2017, according to HuffPost Canada. In order to qualify for the list, companies had to have at least 1,000 employees.
The list is directed towards job seekers who want to work for businesses that stand out.
“This year’s list represents a diverse group of employers hiring across the country, including top companies in tech, retail, healthcare, consumer goods, consulting and more,” said Robert Hohman, Glassdoor’s CEO and co-founder.
He added, “Employers where employees love to work continue to prove that they have a recruiting and business performance advantage.”
Leading the pack are technology companies, which fill out six of the top 10 spots on the list. These companies are competitively seeking talent, and there are more jobs than there are skilled employees, according to Glassdoor Community Expert Scott Dobroski.
Job seekers value a company’s culture as well as compensation and benefits.
“Employees tell us that they want to be part of a culture that feels aligned with a mission and their values,” Dobroski explained. “Companies that invest in culture and get it right typically see their employee satisfaction levels well above average, much like all of the companies on this year’s list.”
Glassdoor creates similar lists for companies in the United States, Germany, the U.K., and France. Microsoft and SAP are included in lists for all of these countries as well as Canada.
