If you’re looking for the best hamburger in the country, head to Montreal. Big 7 Travel recently ranked the top 50 burgers in Canada, and Uniburger topped the list. Three burger joints from Quebec made the top 10, which also included five restaurants from Ontario.
A panel of food pros and 1.5 million social media users compiled the list after combing through a stack of finalists. Factors such as online reviews, media coverage, and blog posts were also taken into account.
Uniburger is a classic burger joint that isn’t known for its fancy menu or gourmet offerings. Many foodies simply enjoy their patties and buns. The restaurant uses Canadian beef in its burgers, which are ground up daily by a local butcher. The restaurant imports its potato buns from the United States, and according to the owner they aren’t available anywhere else in Canada. Unibuger even offers a meat-free option (although we can’t imagine the plant-based Beyond Meat patty is as delicious).
And if you need a late-night burger fix, some Uniburger locations are open until 5 a.m.
Second on the Big 7 Travel list is Burger Burger in London, Ontario. Their mouthwatering hamburgers are handmade daily with sirloin, chuck and brisket. Coming in third place is Rudy in Toronto, Ontario. While their menu is small, it’s tasty, and they even offer a side of pickles.
2 Doors Down in Halifax, Nova Scotia, takes the fourth spot on the list. It’s been popular since its 2013 debut. The restaurant has a lot of menu options, but their burgers are top notch.
Rounding out the top five is L’Abattoir in Vancouver, British Columbia. Their weekend brunch burger is delicious, and the restaurant’s setting is just as delightful.
