An ideal choice for winter dressing is the traditional duffle coat. Although perfected by Gloverall, Margiela offers an update to the vintage staple, with a reversible option that boasts a subtle camel plaid. I can’t think of anything more covetable and out of my price range. Dare to dream.
You’ll notice that most of the elements of the traditional duffle are kept the same, from the yoke to the toggles and leather fasteners. But what is appealing (besides the check pattern) is the less heavy hood feature. Since it is made of 100% pure virgin wool, a weighty hood could conceal your head and add far too much emphasis to its shadowed absence, but Margiela’s offering is much lighter, ensuring that the entire look is in focus. It is the perfect jacket for Fall/Winter 2010 and arguably a piece you will never want to part with.
For goodness sake, please provide a price. You got me all duffled up with nowhere to go!
Hey Andrew,
Tres Bien Shop (http://www.tresbienshop.net/en/art/maison-martin-margiela-10-reversible-duffle-coat.php) has it for €1345.00 with a 20% reduction for customers outside of the EU. I think I was just so interested with the piece that looking for the price would be heartbreaking. Consider me heartbroken. It is completely perfect.
