This is our typical method of measuring how much propane we have left in the tank: we lift the tank, shake a bit, say “Meh, it’s probably fine”, and then go on to run out of propane halfway through the cookout.
Since our method is terrible (and it’s probably pretty similar to yours), here’s a better way: use a Truma Propane LevelCheck ($90). It uses an ultrasound to figure out how full your tank is, and then gives you a level reading.
