You may think of sofas as soft, comfortable things. Well, you’d be wrong, bafflingly enough. This onyx sofa ($205,000) by Peugeot is cut from volcanic rock and moulded carbon fibre. It’s the first in a line of made to measure furniture, which will eventually include lamps, shelves, armchairs, tables, and more. All will include some common industrial materials (i.e., glass fibre, aluminium) and natural materials (i.e., wood, rock stone—we’re not sure why aluminium isn’t in this category too). No word on whether the other pieces will look like they’re stolen from the chambers of House Harkkonnen.
