Steve McQueen’s “Bullitt” Jacket is Up for Auction

What kind of cop wears a bespoke herringbone tweed jacket with suede elbow patches? Steve McQueen’s Frank Bullitt. And guess what? It’s going up for auction.

We’ll never been as cool as the star of Bullitt, famous for the greatest car chase in cinema history (we’ve attached it below), but owning this jacket would put us part of the way there. Unfortunately for us, it’s estimated to for somewhere between $600,000 and $800,000 by Profiles in History, the auction company in charge of this cinematic equivalent of vestments. It goes up for sale on July 28-29; check out the goods here (pdf warning).

If you’ll excuse us, we’ll be googling tweed jackets and watching this chase scene over and over again.
