Report: The sexiest places in the world (and how Canadian cities measure up)

Which cities around the world are having the most sex, and how do the sex lives of Canadians compare?

A new report from Lazeeva, a company specializing on erotic mobile apps, reveals where people are the most ‘sex positive’. They define sex positive as “having or promoting an open tolerant, or progressive attitude towards sex and sexuality.”

The study involved more than 450,000 people around the world, and also used data from departments of health from various countries, as well as the World Health Organization and the World Bank.

Criteria measured include how sexually active, experimental and satisfied people are, how often they use sex toys and watch porn, gender equality, LGBT friendliness, the amount of adult entertainment and access to contraception. The results are used to rank 100 cities around the world.

Paris topped the list as the sexiest city in the world. Coming in dead last as the least sexy city? Cork, Ireland.

No Canadian cities cracked the top 10, but we have four cities in the rankings – two in the top 20 pro sex cities in the world.

The sexiest places in Canada?

The highest ranking ‘sex positive’ city in Canada is Montreal. Quebec’s largest city came in as number 13 on the top 100 list. Not bad.

Montrealers scored high marks for LGBT friendliness, Sex Toy, and Pornography consumption (all 9+ out of 10.) However, they’re not happy with it. The city lost points on ‘Sexual Satisfaction,’ getting only 1.7 out of 10.

Also, apparently they like locals. The most searched term on sex sites for Montrealers is “Quebec.”

The second sexiest city in Canada is Toronto. The Big Smoke is listed as the 15th most sex positive in the world.

Torontonians are slightly more sexually satisfied than Montrealers (1.8 out of 10). They are also even more LGBT friendly, scoring a 9.9 out of ten. (Only London, England scored higher on that measure, earning 10/10 for LGBT friendliness.) However, Toronto lost marks for being less sexually experimental and having far fewer swingers than Montreal.

The most searched for sex term for Torontonians? “Lesbian.”

Vancouver is the next highest ranking pro-sex city in Canada, coming in at number 29 in the world. Calgary also makes the list, a little further down at 45th.
