Bust Loose New Year’s Eve Gala Tour
Most of the parties this club crawl’s buses will hit are already sold out, so, this is the only way you’ll get into Calgary’s newest bar, Commonwealth, and experience its Prohibition Party. The bus tour starts at Commonwealth, then stops at The Bank, then The Roadhouse, and ends at Vinyl Retro Lounge. If fashion and the pageantry that comes with it is her thing, then purchasing tickets to this live, globally telecast fashion party (from the opulent Grand Theatre, in downtown Calgary) should score enough relationship points to carry you well into 2012. Zoo Year’s Eve
If you’ve cashed in your single chips for the happiness of family life, the Calgary Zoo’s NYE event is perfect for you and your kids (let’s be honest, mainly your kids). Combining the seasonal Zoo Lights attraction with a fireworks show and some fun outdoor entertainment, Zoo Year’s Eve is a quick and easy way to begin your “2012 Dad of the Year” campaign. A Night to Remember
The trendy SoHo Bar & Grill throws a classic New Year’s party with DJ Vacilon and VJ Patto playing choice R&B, House, Top 40 and Latin music. The classy, lower-key affair will feature midnight hors d’oeuvres, drink specials and what sounds like an awesome indoor financial rainmaking (midnight money drop). Raw Bar’s NYE Menu
Maybe you’ve outgrown getting tipsy and making bad decisions (at least for one year). If so, Raw Bar’s executive chef Duncan Ly has prepared a delightful four-course tasting menu, complete with some sweet wine pairings. Start with applewood smoked scallops, move to fried lobster beignet and round out the meal with a sample of Ly’s signature Berkshire pork belly and foie gras, with chocolate mousse for dessert. An intimate party for two or four, sitting in the ambiance of the Hotel Arts’ boutique décor and enjoying the ultimate meal to end 2011, may be the most memorable NYE event in Calgary.
