King’s Crown has, what you might call, experience. Their trademark was registered in 1774, back when the Weyersberg family of Solingen, Germany was in the business of making swords. The business became razor blades, exploded to include leather shaving accessories and skincare, and they’ve been in the men’s grooming business ever since.
I took the time to try out their enriched line of skincare products, but they also carry an oil defence line and an anti-aging line.
All lines consist of three products: a cleanser, a shaving cream, and a moisturiser (and the shaving cream comes in travel sizes). That’s pretty much all you need. Also of note: their products are paraben and phthalate free, as parabens might mess with your hormones and phthalates might be a carcinogen.
First up: the cleanser ($29). It’s made with a papaya enzyme, has sort of a slight fruity aroma, and foams on contact. You don’t need much. It’s also pretty great in the middle of winter—helps avoid that ashy look.
Next, the shaving cream ($29). Again, you don’t need much. It’s silky smooth, thanks to cocoa butter and glycerine, and it has a bunch of oils known to help skin conditioning and healing, like tea tree oil, flaxseed oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, evening Primrose oil, pumki, seed oil, and jojoba seed oil. It also gives you that post-shave slight cool burn feeling, possibly thanks to the soothing trifecta of eucalyptus leaf oil, ginger root extract, and green tea leaf extract. Best of all, everything’s organic.
Finally, the moisturiser ($39). It’s faintly citrus-scented, and it’s pretty quick at being absorbed into your skin. No greasy residue left over at all.
You can buy these guys individually, or a gift box of all three will cost you $95. All in all, it’s pretty great, especially with this season’s skincare wear and tear.
