This was the first Cobra racing car sold to the public. Oh, and one of only three factory competition models. It has a history of winning racing (including the Bahamas trophy race in 1962 and ’63).
In fact, you could probably take this 1962 Shelby 289 Competition Cobra out on the vintage racing circuit. It weighs in at just north of 2,000 lbs, has a 289 cubic inch Fairlane V8, which pushes out 271 hp at 6000 rpm. It’ll do a quarter mile in 13 seconds, and it can top out around 113 mph. However, the last time one of these guys was sold, numbers approached $900,000, so dig deep. Very deep.
