This isn’t really a new study, but rather a study based on 97 previous studies that suggests men whose BMI is between 25 and 29.5 (i.e. slightly overweight) are less likely to die than their skinnier (or significantly fatter) counterparts.
That said, scientists aren’t even sure how to define “overweight” and pretty much agree that BMI is mostly useless, so it remains to be seen whether your three porterhouse-a-day habit proves to be a ticket to centenarian-hood or simply a slightly cumbersome coffin.
