Before we get to the most intense three-minute dressing down ever, a little background. A scandal recently broke in the Australian Army revolving around allegations of explicit and derogatory emails being circulated amongst some of their officers and NCOs.
Lesser organizations might try and punish the victims, deny the allegations, and shut up—a pattern familiar in, say, the US military’s history of ignoring sexual assault, or our own RCMP’s chronic scandals.
However, the Australian Army apparently doesn’t do things that way. Chief of Army Lieutenant General David Morrison addressed his troops, the perpetrators, and the rest of Australia in a scathing video posted to YouTube, saying, “The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.”
