Great Date Suggestions

This week, your friends at XYYC bring you the first in a series of date suggestions around Calgary. Each has been carefully approved by a genuine woman, as an event that would prolong the evening. Go get ’em, tiger!

For Thrills: Thrill seekers should try North America’s fastest zip-line, “The Skyline” at Canada Olympic Park. For $50 you can harness up, and “zip” down a long cable system, at speeds of 120-140 km/h. Runs year-round, in all weather conditions. See the website for full details. If she likes this, consider tequila as part of the evening.

For Cheap: A great date for the guy who doesn’t have a lot of extra cash but wants to impress. Take her to the Latin Corner Dance Studio at Eau Claire. They will teach you the salsa, merengue, tango and other hot Latin dances for $15 (drop in fee). See their schedule for classes. Even if you can’t dance, she’ll respect you for trying.

For Keeps: How about dessert for dinner? Located in the Calgary Tower, The Panorama Dining Room’s “Pinnacle” features one serving of each of their five desserts for $50. Order a bottle of wine to go with it, and you have yourself a reasonably well-priced romantic evening for two. Afterward, take her to stand on the glass floor of the observation deck while she’s still on the sugar high; looking 525 feet straight down will give you both an excuse to move closer. Since the restaurant closes at 9:30 p.m., this gives you lots of time to continue the evening. Call (403) 508-5822 for reservations.
