We’ve spent the past few days playing with the Minke Fishing Tool ($50), and we’ve pretty much rebuilt every buzzbomb in our collection, which is ample. Normally tying clinch knots is a pain in the ass—and if you’re like us, it’s a task that frequently introduces our fingertips to the business end of barbed hooks. Thankfully, the Minke puts an end to the difficulty and tedium of treading and knotting hooks—not to mention the hookings.
As you can see from the picture above, the Minke will hold your hook and guide you while you spool up the perfect clinch knot. After that, you just pull the hook and the knot tightens right into place. The Minke also has a set of clippers on it, so you can trim your brand new line, and a little spear for cleaning the eyelet of any hook of it’s old line. All in all, it’s a simple but effective little tool, which, in our opinion, is the best kind of tool.
