Best Go-Kart Spots in the GTA

Toronto may have lost its Grand Prix race for this year, but that doesn’t mean there will be a black flag thrown up for go-karting fanatics.

Here are the five places in the GTA for those with a heavy pedal foot to unleash their street dreams.

401 Mini-Indy
Beginner and experienced racers alike should be able to navigate the simple, extra-wide design of this indoor course. They claim the fastest go-karts in Toronto, and the computerized scoring and timing will provide the proof while affording you bragging rights over your buddies. 37 Stoffel Drive, Etobicoke, (416) 614-6789.

Grand Prix Kartways
This indoor facility offers the true racing experience all the way down to the balaclava under the helmet. The top-of-the-line Italian go-karts are electric-powered and zip along at speeds of 45 kilometres per hour. Formula Kartways
Canada’s first indoor track operating since 1994 offers 10 killer corners over a 1/4-mile course. The variety of turns from hairpins to S’s gives drivers the professional feel and the 18-ft.-plus width lets speedsters pass the slowpokes and leave ’em in the dust. Centennial Park Mini-Indy
Boasting the largest outdoor track in the nation at 2 km, this complex course is not for the easily intimidated. The go-karts zoom at 45 km/h and the turns are harrowing as is the full-size bridge. Goodwood Kartways
This outdoor course is home to the Toronto Kart Club and features 14 real races over the summer. It can be run in either long or short track configurations with a 700-ft. straightaway.
