Booze for Obama

New Wave

The night before the inauguration, Monday January 19, Blizzarts’weekly Mixtapes DJ night has a special edition, entitled New Order. Do expect to hear tunes by the Manchester band of yore, along with pop, rock and hip hop to mark “the trimming of the Bush.” Monday at 9:30 pm,

Disco
After successful Canadian and American election parties,Korova’sweekly throwdown, Let The Music Play, is going political again, featuring the infamous O’Bomber shot concocted on November 4, 2008. Tuesday at 9 pm, 3908 St. Laurent Blvd., free.

Country
The Green Room’s Inauguration Bash begins early, with a screening of the ceremony. Snacks will be followed by live performances from such local country stars as Li’l Andy. It’s a Hootenanny, the first in a series of live roots jams. Tuesday at 11:30 am.

Hip-Hop

The biggest bash will be at Shine Lounge, entitled My President Is Black. The event marks the inauguration, with a nod to Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is January 19. The dress code calls for all black, or an Obama T-shirt – and ladies are kindly asked to “dress sexy.” Tuesday at 9 pm, 3785 St. Laurent Blvd., (514) 688-7826. $15 or $10 advance.
