Mixologist: 3 Black Grouse Halloween Cocktails

If there’s one time of year you can do with themed cocktails, it’s Halloween. Not only are these offerings featuring Black Grouse suitable for a spooky party, you can pair them with some of the more popular costumes—there’s Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, and The Great Gatsby. No Frozen, though, so you’re out of luck there.

Game of Thrones — King Slayer

1oz. The Black Grouse
1oz. red wine (merlot is suggested)
2oz. lemonade
Top with ginger beer
Lemon for garnish

In a mixing glass filled with ice, add The Black Grouse, red wine (merlot is suggested) and lemonade. Shake vigorously and strain into a short glass filled with fresh ice. Top with non-alcoholic ginger beer. Garnish with a long lemon twist.

The Great Gatsby — Grilled Old Fashioned

2oz. The Black Grouse
1 sugar cube
2 dashes chocolate bitters
Grilled half orange wheel

In a short glass, add sugar cube, dashes of chocolate bitters and a grilled half orange wheel. Muddle these ingredients, then add ice and The Black Grouse. Stir for 1 minute and top with fresh ice. Garnish with a flamed orange zest.

American Horror Story — Bloody Horror

1oz. The Black Grouse
1 Tsp BBQ Sauce
1 dash chipotle Tabasco
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1 dash salt & pepper
Top wish Clamato
Radical Rimmer or Montreal Steak Spice
Pepper or hherry tomatoes for garnish

Rim a tall glass with Radical Rimmer or Montreal Steak spice. Fill with ice, then add salt, pepper, chipotle Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce to taste. Now add BBQ sauce and pour The Black Grouse on top. Fill with Clamato and give it a quick stir. Garnish with a red pepper “devil” on a skewer or with cherry tomatoes.
