Where Should You Take Your Girlfriend on Vacation?

Summer time means vacation time, and if you’re partnered up, this might be the summer when you go away with your girl for the first time.

Going on vacation with your girlfriend is no easy feat. Sure, there’s going to be a lot more sexy-times, but what about the time when your boo has to sit with you while food poisoning from last night’s dinner explodes out of you from every orifice (or vice versa)? Then there’s all of the compromising and sharing you have to do, not to mention, you know, spending every single waking hour with them!

No doubt that vacationing with your partner is a great litmus test for your relationship, so it’s totally normal to be freaking out a bit. To help ease the stress of your trip together, it would be a wise idea to consider the right destination for you two. Location is everything, after all. So, if you really want to impress her, here’s a list of the cities to choose from that would best suit her personality. Choose wisely.

The Easy Going Gal

She is: sweet, caring and supportive, but not great when it comes to making decisions.

Go to: Niagara Falls, Ontario.

She’s all about spending easy-going, quality time together, so Niagara Falls is just the spot for her “go with the flow” personality. It’s low-key, but packed with a bunch of fun stuff to do that doesn’t require a whole lot of detailed planning. Ride on the Maid of the Mist, jump into one of the many haunted houses or wax museums on the main drag, or get competitive—and cozy—at mini-golf. Then plan a romantic dinner over-looking the Falls. And remember to snap plenty of photos because she’s all about capturing the “special moments.”

The Quirky Girl

She is: creative, free-spirited and likes to try new things.

Go to: La Isla De Las Muñecas, Mexico.

She’s unique and likes to think outside of the box, so her vacation should be exactly like that, too. There’s a place in Mexico called La Isla De Las Muñecas (a.k.a. the Island of the Dolls) where the trees grown on this island are decorated with old and mutilated dolls that were hung by the island’s one and only former resident. Sure, it’s creepy and bizarre, but she’ll probably dig it. It’s located near Mexico City, so, if things get too creepy, you can always chill out there and have some beer and tacos.

The Organized Lady

She is: um, well-organized, and prefers consistency and routine.

Go to: Napa Valley, California.

She doesn’t like surprises and always want to know the day-to-day plans. An off-the-beaten-path vacation wouldn’t be her idea of a good time, so your best bet would be to pick a classic wine and food tour in Napa Valley, California. She will appreciate the guided tours and refined cuisine and drink. To mix it up, you can choose from sightseeing tours via limo, bike, balloon, or even Segway. But you might want to check in with her first.

The Adventurous Woman

She is: competitive, loves to take risks, lives for the moment and probably digs nature.

Go to: the Canadian Rockies.

She’s always on the go and loves pushing herself. Planning an adventurous vacay out in the midst of Canada’s beautiful Rockies, along with river rafting, heli-skiing, and hiking, is most definitely a vacation she won’t soon forget. Schedule a spa session after a hard day of play and treat yourselves to a couples’ massage to further your bond. And remember: even if she takes the lead outside, she will still want someone there to catch her if she falls (knock on wood).

The Posh Female

She is: elegant, refined and loves stimulating conversation.

Go to: Europe.

Some might call her high-maintenance, but she just likes what she likes. A vacation that will keep her intellectually stimulated, while also feeling pampered and extremely luxurious, is the destination for her. A spot like London, or Florence, Italy, would do the trick for this chick. With tons of history, museums and art galleries, as well as some quality alone time in an elegant hotel, she’ll feel fulfilled in more ways than one.
